INTRODUCTION
Delta Innovative Enterprises Ltd. is a Public Limited
Company set up with its corporate office in Chennai in the year 1996.
The Company is essentially a hi-tech networking company. The company
is engaged in creating a National Network to link every Indian via space.
This network when complete will link all towns & villages in India
through the satellite.
This network will be the backbone on which a host of services will be
offered to the common man across the length and breadth of the country.
NETWORK ARCHITECTURE
This network on land is supported by a four tier architecture.
The Central server based in Chennai as the focal point linking the entire
country.
The second tier consists of earth stations located in different parts
of the country which are all connected by V-sat / internet to get local
connectivity to the entire country. When complete the company will have
250 earth stations nationally. Each of the earth stations will be linked
to the different postal pin codes falling in their territory by way of
dial up systems / faxes. Thus for each pin code ,Deltagram will have a
Satellite Mail Center (SMC). When complete we will have 25,000 – 27,000
Satmail Centers.
The last layer of the architecture consists of 15-20 street front Deltagram
Centers (SCP) in each pin code from where all the services of Deltagram
will be made available to the common man. When complete there would be
over 3,00,000 dedicated SCP nationally (across the length and breadth of
the country) providing the common man with the Deltagram services.
SCOPE OF THE NETWORK
This Network will host a range of Communication related services
that will be Fast & Cost effective. The services will encompass
Messaging, Financial and E-Commerce products..
COMMUNICATION PRODUCTS:
Easy & economical alternative to long distance telephone
calls. Easy & economical solution to national faxing. Providing economical
alternative to sending E-mails.
Providing a virtual digital post office for speedy delivery of mails
(moved electronically & door delivered).
FINANCIAL PRODUCTS :
(a) Payment mechanism for internet transactions which are safe,
protected & secure.
(b) Any Time Money (ATM) solutions.
(c) Debit cards with a national reach.
(d) Speedy & economical means of money transfer nationally.
E-COMMERCE PRODUCTS
Providing on line ticketing & booking services for train tickets,
cinema tickets, bus tickets. Enabling Tele-commerce solutions locally &
nationally.
THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE PROJECT
Deltagram has successfully tested the efficiency of the project in South
India and is committed to complete the project of national network creation
before the end of 2001.
The project when complete will involve an investment of over Rs.250
crores. The project is supported by way of term loan from IDBI and has
been identified by Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (IDFC)
as a priority project needing funding. Both the Institutions
have extended financial support for this project.
Ernst and Young who have evaluated the project have looked at the potential
for this project at over Rs.5000 crores.
MANAGEMENT
The Company is managed by a team of dedicated professionals.
Mr.R.Kothandaraman as the Managing Director provides the lead
in creating a vision for the Company. Mr.Raman, a Chartered Accountant
& Secretary by profession is also the promoter of the project. Mr.Raman
has over 20 years experience in different projects.
Major G.V.Raju as the Vice President (Administration) is responsible
for the development of all the earth stations and is in the forefront in
completing the infrastructure development.
Mr.S.Sukumar, a seasoned marketing professional as the Vice President
(Sales & Marketing) is spearheading the development, promotion and
marketing of all the products of the Company.
Mr.M.K.Ravi as the Vice President (Co-ordination) provides the
link in terms of finance & project implementation.
Mr.Adivarahan as the Sr.General Manager (Information Technology)
is responsible for providing the software and network technology.
Mr. P.K.Venugopal, Sr.General Manager (Business Development)
is involved in corporate work & developing strategic alliances. The
Operations, the Channel Development, Finance, HRD & Marketing are headed
by respective General Managers.
METRO / REGIONAL
BUSINESS ASSOCIATES
Each of the 250 earth stations will have a Business Associate.
Each hub will handle a territory of around 50 sq.kms. covering all towns
/ cities that are locally connected to the hub by way of telephone. The
Business Associate is responsible for development of channel partners and
the sale of company’s products / services in the area allocated to him.
METRO TOWN BUSINESS ASSOCIATE
Metro Town Business Associates will operate in the larger area of Metro’s
and all towns local to the Metro. Business Associates needed for Delhi
/ Bombay / Kolkata / Chennai / Hyderabad / Bangalore. Investment : 60 –
75 lacs. (Each metro would handle an area of around 100 – 120 pin codes)
REGIONAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATES
In locations other than Metro’s, Deltagram needs Business partners in
each of the 250 hubs (earth stations) being set up in different parts of
India. Each hub will handle 2 – 3 towns falling within the local phone
connectivity to the hub. Investment : 8 – 10 lacs. Each hub would handle
around 50 – 80 pin codes.

Deltagram is also looking for franchisees to represent and provide
similar services to Indians / NRI’s and others wishing to establish communication
contact to different parts of India.
Each franchisee will establish & develop the products &
services in the country / area of Operation.
Deltagram will provide complete logistic support, dedicated software
and products to succeed in the market.
Areas where franchisees are required : All states of USA,
Canada, Middle East, East Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia,
Singapore.
ROLE OF A BUSINESS ASSOCIATE
A Business Associate of Deltagram will be the representative of Deltagram
for the designated territory and will be involved in the following activities.
Manage the entire composing operations in the area.
Represent, appoint and develop the 3rd and 4th tier
channel partners in the area.
Promote & sell the companies different products through the channel
partners.
Participate as a franchisee on all future products & services of the
Company.
Compose & upload messages received to the rest of the country and down
load & deliver through the SMC messages received in his area.
Employ staff to maintain the operations and a sales team to develop channels
& sell the companies products.
PRE-REQUISITES TO BE A DELTAGRAM BUSINESS ASSOCIATE
Ability to make the required investment.
A keen desire to succeed in the market place.
Ability to provide adequate manpower for operation & a dedicated sales
team to penetrate in terms of channel development & sale of companies
products & services.
Ability to Bear 30% rent of the premises and cost of telephone,
water, electricity and other maintenance expenses.
Ability to bear Administration & service expenses of the office including
Stationery for office use.
MESSAGE COMPOSING &
OPERATIONS
The Associate will hire manpower and undertake the job of composing
all incoming messages & moving the same to the respective destination.
All messages received for delivery in the hub would be moved & delivered
by phone / fax or hand delivered through the Satmail Centres.
In locations where Satmail Centres do not exist, Deltagram will continue
to door deliver letters through its own dedicated Deltagram Delivery Centres.
Deltagram will not only induct the franchisee staff, but will also provide
continuous training to the staff for the efficient management of the hub.
DEVELOP THE CHANNEL PARTNERS & APPOINT THEM
The Associate will employ the necessary field & sales staff
for the development of channel partners. Deltagram will impart proper training
to the franchisee staff & provide adequate brochures & applications
to enable the franchisee appoint the channel partners.
SALE OF COMPANY’S PRODUCTS & SERVICES
The Associate having established the channel partners will be engaged
in selling all the company’s products through the channel partners. The
company will also offer to the franchisees certain products for corporate
customers which the franchisee will sell to corporates, business houses
and small traders.

Deltagram offers the associates a complete business module by which
the associate will be engaged in Message / Service generation, Channel

Deltagram will take on rent a premises in which the franchisee will

PRODUCTS & SERVICES
E-CALL
E-call is a cost effective communication tool by which the consumer
can send the message to any part of India through a satellite net work
for a cost of Rs.5/- (message size 50 words).
This offers tremendous cost benefit and speed in communication on a
national basis to people who have been using long distance STD calls as
a means of communication hitherto.
Given the fact that in India over 6 calls a day made out of each telephone
is a long distance STD call, this product offers tremendous potential as
an economical alternative to STD.
ORG –Marg a market research company has identified that in over 60%
of long distance calls made, it is only messages that are transmitted.
The calls are non interactive . Deltagram hopes to tap this potential fully.
Deltagram will soon offer E-call as a Voice Mail facility as well.
TELE-MAIL
This product enables a vast majority of the Indian public who do not
have access to Internet or who are not familiar with computer usage to
use e-mail service of Deltagram by merely taking a message on a phone or
fax.
Deltagram enables consumers to send E-mails all over the world at a
price of Rs.5/- per page.
While E-mails have become very popular as a means of speedy communication
not all people in India are able to access it due to lack of computer knowledge
and Non availability of access to costly computers & internet connection.
There are hardly 7,00,000 internet connections available today in India
for a population of 100 crores.
Deltagram hopes to make available the Internet facility to the common
man at an affordable cost.
DELTA FAX
The ability of the Satellite to move data in its original form enable
Deltagram to offer fax to fax communication service on an All India basis
at a standard price of Rs.15/- irrespective of time or distance.
The high incidence of STD rates on fax has been a limiting factor for
the use of fax.
In spite of the coming of E-mail, fax as part of communication mode
will continue to play an important role in the transmission of documents
with signatures / logo etc.
Deltagram offers a very cost effective alternative to STD fax by the
facility of Deltafax.
E-LETTER
The developments of franchisees in each pin code with a fax machine
connected to the gateway hubs enables Deltagram to provide a digital post
office service by which printed letters can be hand delivered in 4 hours
time to different parts of the country at a price of Rs.15/- for full page
letter.
In spite of various communication facilities available the department
of posts handles over 5 crores letters every day nationally. The larger
traffic is also causing inordinate delay.
Deltagram is offering a virtual digital post office linking the country
nationally through satellite & faxes. This will enable speed in written
communication through out the country.
CALL INDIA.NET
The facility enables a consumer to contact any person by telephone on
an all India basis by merely sending an E-mail.
Deltagram will capture the E-mail and ring up the recipient and convey
his message and also collect reply and post it back to the E-mail address
of the sender.
This facility would be available to consumers by the use of pre-paid
charge cards. Each pack would cost Rs.60/- and the consumer would be able
to send 10 messages out of this pack. (Pack of 10 cards. Each card Rs.8/-)
This link of Internet to people who do not have an internet connection
in India to a telephone will be a very economical means of communication.
GRAM INDIA.NET
Deltagram will enable consumers to contact recipients who do not have
an E-mail address through the use of Gram India.Net.
The consumers can send the E-mail to any physical address in any part
of India which would be moved by Deltagrams net work and door delivered
to the recipient.
The reply for the message will also be collected and posted back into
the E-mail address of the sender.
This facility will be available to the consumers through the use of
pre-paid charge card pack price of Rs.60/-. These cards will enable the
consumer to send 5 messages for delivery anywhere in India. (Each pack
5 cards, each card Rs.15/-)
This link of internet users to send letters / greetings on a door delivery
basis will provide for speedy communication through out the country.
DELTA MONEY
The IT revolution has brought about a lot of net company’s and various
Web sites have come up offering information, products & services. While
access to free service is possible, quite a large number of sites are not
accessible due to non-availability of a payment mode.
Deltagram would like to offer an exclusive payment mechanism for net
users to make payments online and also ensure this money is safe and protected.
The payment mechanism will also enable sites to be able to offer instant
service based on the immediate authenticated confirmation of payment from
Deltagram. This mechanism will be called ‘Delta Money’.
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENTS
E-call which is to-day a facility of moving messages will soon be automated
to move the senders voice itself to the recipient. Every recipient will
have a Voice Mail box from where he can access his own messages.
Delta Money in the form of a secure payment mode for internet transactions
will be developed.
