{"id":2369,"date":"2014-07-11T08:39:05","date_gmt":"2014-07-11T03:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.naavi.org\/?p=2369"},"modified":"2014-07-11T08:41:40","modified_gmt":"2014-07-11T03:11:40","slug":"samsung-galaxy-rs-1-72-can-land-trouble","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.naavi.org\/wp\/samsung-galaxy-rs-1-72-can-land-trouble\/","title":{"rendered":"How the lure of Samsung Galaxy at Rs 1.72 can land you in trouble"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is known for some time that fraudsters use unrelated e-mails to drop trojans which may be used for phishing.<\/p>\n<p>Here is an example of an e-mail which says &#8220;..Own Samsung Galaxy for Rs 1.72..&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.naavi.org\/?attachment_id=2371\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2371\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2371 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.naavi.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/phishing_samsung_1-1024x575.png\" alt=\"phishing_samsung_1\" width=\"630\" height=\"353\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The link appears to contain at least two trojans which are detected by Kasparesky pure 3.0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.naavi.org\/?attachment_id=2372\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2372\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2372 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.naavi.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/phishing_samsung_2-1024x575.png\" alt=\"phishing_samsung_2\" width=\"630\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.naavi.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/phishing_samsung_2-1024x575.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.naavi.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/phishing_samsung_2-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/www.naavi.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/phishing_samsung_2.png 1472w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Similar tactics could be used with World Cup related information or budget related information etc.<\/p>\n<p>Many Banks in their phishing defense inform customers that &#8220;Bank never sends an email requesting for passwords ..etc&#8221;. But such notices are not useful since fraudsters may use e-mails other than in the name of the Bank and still be able to drop trojans that steal the Bank passwords.<\/p>\n<p>It is also known that the new generation of trojans are even able to defeat the two factor authentication.
