Heros and Villains...9B
Two Exiting Teams Fight to Salvage Pride
On the second part of day 9, the Cricket world cup entered Round III with Pakistan and Zimbabwe playing out their third and last match in the Group stage. Paksitan had already been eliminated from the tournament but as a team with the reputation of being the past Champions and plagued by the sudden murder of their Coach Bob Woolmer, had to salavage some pride out of the math. Besides Inzamam Ul Haq, the captain was playing his last ODI and as one of the greatest players of the game required a fitting farewell. To some extent this objective was served by Paksitan beating Zimbabwe comprehensively and Imran Nazir playing a good knowck which briefly raised the hope of a World record.
In the end, despite with rain intervening, Pakistan l managed a good victory.
With this loss, Zimbabwe also exited from the championship.
