Lara Farewell Match Ends in Favour of England.
On the 37th day of the Cricket World Cup, the last match of the Super Eight stage was played out between West Indies and England. This was the last match for Brian Charles Lara, one of the greatest batsmen of our times,before retirement.
The match however ended with England successfully chasing 300 runs.
Pieterson with a good century was declared the ICC Player of the match. But NCR hero of the day was Michael Vaughan with an alround display. Pieterson however moved up in NCR rankings from 19th to 6th place. Bravo of West Indies also moved up from 16th to 7th place.
We have now reached the end of Phase II of the World Cup and the NCR Hero at this stage is Scott Styris of New Zealand. Mathew Hayden is the nearest competitor who is 82 points below Styris. Jayasuriya is a further 18 points below Hayden.
In the Semi Finals, Australia is taking on South Africa and Sri Lanka is taking on New Zealand.
Let 's wait and watch who will finally be the winner of the coveted honour of the "NCR Man of World Cup 2007"
