Heros and Villains...12
Gream Smith Ahead of Hayden..day 12
Day 12 of the Cricket World cup saw a run feast with Australia and South Africa scoring 377 and 294 respectively. With Hayden scoring the fastest 100 in world cup, it was fitting that he turned out to be the NCR hero for day 12. Clarke and Ponting also played exquisite knocks. In reply, Gream Smith and De Villiers did challenge Australia for a while but the chase was a bit too much in the end and Australia moved into the next round with two good points. On the bowling front it was Hogg who stole the lime light with three wickets.
The second match was between England and Kenya in which England had a comfortable win to move into the next roudn whie Kenya was eliminated. The NCR hero of the match was Tikolo of Kenya while the ICC recognized EC Joyce as the player of the match. ikolo scored 76 runs in 97 balls while Joyce scored 75 of 90 balls. Tikolo also took one wicket and hence NCR rated him as the Hero of the match. Tikolo also benefited because his every run was wighted better than Joyce's runs due to the opposition strength being different. It is this factor which makes NCR methodology better than the usual systems where the member of a winning team gets a greater attention than a losing team.
Under the NCR (Naavi Cricket Rating) the South Africa-Australia match was a heavy weight match with the two teams being in the top of the weightage table. The NCR scoring was also heavy. As many as three players namely Hayden, Clarke and de Villiers scored over 100 points with Hayden reaching a massive 148 (inclusive of 10 for a catch). In the overall points tabele however, it was Gream Smith who jumped to the second place with 199 points behind Dwyane Smith of West Indies. Brad Hogg reached the 4th position while Scott Styris was pushed down to the third spot. Hayden occupied the 6th place while de Villiers took the 10th spot. The top 10 also had three members of the teams which have been eliminated. They were Steve Tikolo of Kenya and Davison and Dhaniram of Canada.

Bangladesh are well placed to go through the motions of the match and enter into the super eight stage while Indian team will return back to lick their wounds.
