Heros and Villains...11

Scott Styris Remains at  Top Spot

Day 11 of the Cricket World Cup 2007 saw two matches. One of the matches was India Vs Sri Lanka with India required to win to stay in the championship while Sri Lanka was already through to the next round. The other match was between West Indies and Ireland both of whom have moved to the next round. While India failed to win the match and are out of the championship, West Indies won their match convincingly to move ahead with a clean record of three wins.

In the NCR system, Muralitharan and Chanderpaul were the heros of the respective matches while Sangakkara and Rankin (Ireland) were the villains of the matches.

The top 20 spots in the NCR table was as follows:

Ranking NCR Name Country
1 197 Scott Styris New Zealand
2 185 JM Davison Canada
3 182 S. Dhaniram Canada
4 177 Dwayne Bravo West Indies
5 168 Chigumbara Zimbabwe
6 157 Sanath Jayasurya Sri Lanka
7 148 Chaminda Vaas Sri Lanka
8 147 Virender Sehwag India
9 142 Marlon Samuels West Indies
10 138 BRM Taylor Zimbabwe
11 131 Dwyane Smith West Indies
12 130 Neil O Brien Ireland
13 129 Jeremy Bray Ireland
14 128 S C Williums Zimbabwe
15 127 Chamara Silva Sri Lanka
16 123 Iftikhar Anjum Pakistan
123 Lasith Malinga Sri Lanka
17 121 Jacob Oram New Zealand
18 116 Imran Nazir Pakistan
116 TBM de Leede Netherlands
19 115 RN ten Doeschate Netherlands
20 113 Kumar Sangakkara Sri Lanka

It may be observed that Dwyane Smith of West Indies is continuously leading the race closely followed by Scott Styris of New Zealand. The lone Indian in the above table is Sehwag. After tomorrow's Australia match, some changes are likey in the rankings. England and Kenya will also be battling tomorrow for a place in the next round and it is likely to throw up more changes in the ranking table.
