Workshop on Cyber Law at Mysore

Inauguration of Cyber Law Courses in Hubli

Certificate course in Cyber Law by KLE Society's G K Law College Hubli in association with Cyber Law College is set to be inaugurated on 4th September at 10.00 am. The venue would be K L E's IMSR, Auditorium, B.V.B. Campus, Hubli, 580031. Dr M.K.Nagaraja, I.P.S.Inspector General of Police, Bangalore would be the chief guest. Dr C.Rajashekhar, Dean and Chairman, P G Department of Law, Karnataka University, Dharwad, would be the Guest of Honour. Shri Shankaranna I Munavalli, President, F.K.C C I, Hubli will preside over the function. This is the second college in Karnataka with which Cyber Law College is starting the Certificate course in offline mode.

Workshop on Cyber Frauds at Muscat

Naavi would be holding a two day workshop at Muscat on Cyber Frauds in Muscat on the 27th and 28th of August. Cyber Law Awareness Programmes in Hubli

Naavi has been undertaking a series of Cyber Law Awareness talks in Hubli in what could be one of the most intense Cyber Law Awareness activity in any city in India. After addressing the students of University law College in Dharwar in the morning today (18th Aug 2006)  Naavi addressed a crowded meeting of practicing advocates in the Bar Association followed by students of the MBA programme in IMSR, in the afternoon. He is further scheduled to address six more meetings tomorrow including the Chamber of Commerce, Chartered Accountants, Police, Engineering and Law Students and another group of Management students all in Hubli. The programme is part of the "Karnataka Cyber Law Awareness movement" of Naavi and will be followed by the commencement of a Certificate Course in Cyber Laws to be conducted in Hubli by Cyber Law College in association with KLE Society's G.K.Law College...Press Release from GKLC.

Gujarat Cyber Cafe Regulation Comes into Effect

After Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Gujarat Government has come out with its version of Cyber Cafe regulation. (Copy available here). It is interesting to note that the guidelines follow the earlier guidelines and carries some of the same impractical provisions.

Broadcast Bill Available for Comments

The broadcast bill 2006 which the Government of India intends to introduce in the Parliament for regulating the broadcast industry is now available for public comments. Naavi was in the forefront of the discussions on Convergence Bill in 2001 when the Bill was under consideration. Broadcast Bill is a replacement of the Convergence Bill in many respects and requires detailed discussion. The continued terrorist activity in the country and the continued failure of the Government to address the issue at the root of the problem due to political expediency has prompted some citizens to float an NGO to fight terrorism. The initiative is welcome since terrorism can be stopped only if every citizen turns vigilant. It is however necessary to moderate the activity in such a manner that it does not give raise to elements who turn violent even for a good cause......More info

Mumbai Bomb Blast Accused Arrested Under ITA2000

It is reported that a person arrested in the Mumbai Bomb Blast case has been charged under ITA-2000. It is not known under which section of ITA-2000 he has been arrested. Ethical Hacking Course..Is it legal?

The question whether it is legal to run a training or course on ethical hacking is attracting attention in USA. In the light of increasing terrorism all around the world it is considered a huge risk for any institution or individual to run such courses. The position in India is clearer since there is no concept of "Legal Ethical Hacking" in Indian law. If such courses are to be run the precautions required to be taken are very stringent. Hopefully the few trainers who run commercial courses on "Ethical Hacking" are taking the necessary care and exercising "Due Diligence"....Related Article in Findlaw

Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act..2006

In an attempt to protect children from sexual predators, USA has passed the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act 2006 in both houses of legislation. Apart from making the punishments more stringent, the Act prohibits the  practice  of hiding innocuous terms in the hypertext markup language so that a search for those terms on the Internet yields links to the sexually explicit web sites.; More info
